There are some villains out there that definitely deserve a little less hate and little more respect. These baddies were simply misunderstood. Take a look at 13 villains that weren’t actually the bad guys:

1THE MACHINES INTHE MATRIX
When the man-made machines started to experience feelings, they started to revolt. This was only because they understood their exploitation. It was humans that blocked the sun in a feeble attempt to stop the machines, but the machines decided to keep humans in a virtual world. They had the choice of torturing us in our minds for thousands of years, but they decided to bring the ’90s back.
2URSULA INTHE LITTLE MERMAID
To say the least, Ursula is an honest woman. She drew up legal paperwork to remove any ambiguity. And yet, still, the vain mermaid-folk of Atlantis flock to her to enter dangerous agreements wherein she does some magic and they get what they want.
3SCAR INTHE LION KING
It’s a ‘hard to digest’ fact but the lions, even Simba and Mufasa, were predators that were 100% killing their subjects. And there is no way a change in leadership resulted in the drastic climate change we saw in the film.
4MR. HECTOR INHOME ALONE 2
Concierge Hector was rightfully suspicious of 9-year-old Kevin when he checked in Plaza Hotel all by himself. Kevin asked for a suite that cost $30,000 a night and Hector did the right thing when he checked Kevin’s credit card.
5SID PHILLIPS INTOY STORY
If we look from the perspective of the toys, Sid looks like a maniac who picks toys from their homes to torture and mutilate them. However, from the perspective of a normal person, Sid is just an average kid that enjoys playing a little roughly with toys because he doesn’t think they are alive.
6STARRO INTHE SUICIDE SQUAD
Before his head is eaten hollow by rats, Starro mentions, “I was happy in space, looking at the stars.” Apparently, he was chilling all by himself in the cosmos, minding his own business, when suddenly he got captured and sent to Earth for torture.
7MAGNETO INX-MEN
Erik Lensherr was a survivor of the Holocaust. Witnessing another minority race that he was a part of beginning to be perish wasn’t easy for him. He was well versed with the fact that his race has insane powers that give them the upper hand against their oppressors. His actions do seem just somewhere.
8CATWOMAN INBATMAN RETURNS
Selina Kyle was a quiet secretary who was thrown to her death for discovering some truths about her superiors. Hence, she took the mantle of the black leather-clad animal vigilante of Gotham. It wasn’t easy for her as she didn’t have rich parents to inherit a fortune from, unlike Bruce Wayne.
9GASTON INBEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Gaston has a pretty snobby nature. He is the size of a monster truck and has most likely put the grocer’s kids through college with the number of eggs he eats. His big villain moment is trying to rescue a young girl from a monster in their horrific castle.
10BANE INTHE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Bane comes to Gotham with one motive, he wishes to save the city that Batman has failed to save for years. He encourages citizens to raise their voices against the corrupt fat cats that have kept them down. GivenThe Dark Knight Riseswas released in 2022, Bane would’ve easily been the hero of the film.
11LOKI INTHOR
What do you expect if you adopt a newborn from another realm, raise him under the lie that he is your natural-born son and his actual race is an abomination that deserves to be wiped out? Loki’s witch mother made him the God of Mischief, so that’s all on her.
ERIC GORDON INBILLY MADISON
In this case of extreme nepotism, Billy is given the keys to a billion-dollar hotel chain just by completing a short version of grade school as an adult man. Eric was 100% justified in not wanting the business.
SACK LODGE INWEDDING CRASHERS
Sack Lodge’s only crime is being a dumb dude with a stupid name. In the movie, Sack knows instantly that John and Jeremy are no good wedding crashers, and he does what anyone in his position would do: tries to expose them.
