Since comic book characters began dominating the film and television landscape, superheroes and villains have definitely become one of the most profitable subjects in the modern-day. And with such a large fan base for these characters, it’s time fans start to see what it’s like to actually be some of these legends. Now you’re able to drift the Batmobile through the streets of Gotham City inBatman: Arkham Knight, or stick henchmen onto the walls of New York inMarvel’s Spider-Man.

But there is still a vast array of characters that fans will have the chance to experience in the upcoming superhero video games currently in development. While most of these games have been already announced, there might be a few that carry little to no information. But we anticipate the potential of a thriving developer to deliver us something amazing.
9Rumored Netherrealm Project
This entry might be a bit of a long shot, but we are still hopeful for whatever Ed Boon and his team have in store. Boon has recently played around with cryptic tweets talking about the Multiverse and some rumors even suggest the potential of Marvel inspired fighting game. Another key element in this rumored project is Netherrealm’s history of releasing a pattern between their Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchise withMortal Kombatin 2011,Injustice: Gods Among Usin 2013,Mortal Kombat Xin 2015,Injustice 2in 2017 andMortal Kombat 11in 2019.
With all the speculation, could it be a fresh take onMortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? AnInjustice 3? If Boon was really feeling ambitious, could we finally be seeing a Marvel vs. DC fighting game?

8Untitled Marvel/Skydance New Media Project
A new player has joined the game. The film company Skydance Studio has recently announced its step into the gaming industry called Skydance New Media. At the head of this new gaming studio is Naughty Dogs’ former creative director Amy Hening, best known for her contribution to memorable games such asJak and Daxterand theUnchartedseries.
With Hening at the helm, Skydance New Media has begun collaborating withMarvelEntertainment to develop what is said to be an action-adventure game with an original story. Nothing yet on what Marvel character will lead this campaign, but the little information we have is enough to get us hyped for what Hening and Skydance do with a Marvel property.

7MultiVersus
Super Smash Brothershas become a worldwide phenomenon, and its style of gaming has changed the way we battle each other in the virtual world. And after the success ofSuper Smash Brother’s UltimateandNickelodeon’s All-Star Brawl, the next platform beat’em up is on the way withMultiVersus.
Play First Games kicks off its first game withMultiVersus, a platform brawler with iconic characters from Warner Brother’s vast library. Everyone from Batman to Bugs Bunny, Arya Stark to Shaggy, or even Harley Quinn to Steven Universe. The game is scheduled to be released in July 2022 and will be free-to-play on all platforms.

6Marvel’s Midnight Suns
By the team that brought youCivilizationandXCOM, 2K Games and Firaxis Games are now teaming up with Marvel to bring you a supernatural tactical-role playing game. Marvel fans will have the opportunity to play as some of the famous heroes, but also some of the lesser-known heroes. A roster with Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Captain America, Magik, Iron Man, Blade, Scarlet Witch, and Nico Minoru.
Players will also play as a new character in the game, named The Hunter. As the Hunter, players will have the chance to decide who they are and what abilities they wield. InMidnight Suns, Hydra has revived Lilith, Mother of Demons, from her slumber so she may bring back her evil master Chthon. Scheduled for an July 15, 2025 release date and set to be available on all platforms.

5Gotham Knights
Not sinceBatman: Arkham Originswas released in 2013 has WB Montreal released a new game, but they make a return with their highly anticipatedGotham Knights. In this game, Batman is dead and the only ones left to protect Gotham City are his loyal sidekicks Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood.
Players will play as these four heroes to protect Gotham and uncover the secret behind the Court of Owls. Originally announced at DC Fandome in 2020, the game has experienced a few delays but will finally be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and PC on June 08, 2025.
4Wonder Woman
Announced at the 2021 Game Awards, the Princess of Themyscira will be receiving her own solo video game by the development team at Monolith Studios. While there is very little to be known about this game, there is plenty we can hope for in the future. No genre has been announced yet, but we assume with Monolith’s track record fromShadow of MordorandShadow of War, the game will most likely be an open-world action-adventure game.
At the same time, no voice actress has been picked yet for the titular character. And as amazing as it would be to hear either Gal Gadot or Lynda Carter lend their voices to the character, our top pick would definitely have to be Susan Eisenberg from the originalJustice Leagueanimated series. The game is rumored for a 2023 release date and will most likely be for next-gen consoles only.
3Marvel’s Wolverine
Another game we know very little about. However, after Insomniac managed to create Marvel’s greatest video game withMarvel’s Spider-Man, we have no concerns about what they can do with Weapon X. Assuming Insomniac will follow the same formula they have withSpider-Man,Marvel’s Wolverinewill most likely be a third-person action-adventure game.
But who knows what they might do with him, we haven’t had a solid Wolverine game sinceX-Men Origins: Wolverine. Even if this new game plays anything like that one, I am sure they will find a way to make it unique and new for players to try. Rumored for a 2023 release date.
2Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
After the massive success ofMarvel’s Spider-Manand the short follow-up withMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we could not wait for a follow-up game.Marvel’s Spider-Manis hinting at allowing players to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, utilizing both of their unique gadgets and abilities.
The other piece of information we are aware of is the inclusion of Venom. Considering the popularity of the character now, we can’t wait to see this new rendition of Venom and Tony Todd’s take on the symbiote.
1Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League
Announced alongsideGotham Knightsat DC Fandome in 2020,Suicide Squad Kills the Justice Leaguemight not only be one of the most anticipated superhero video games but anticipated games in general. Rocksteady Studios has managed to create one of the best video game franchises withBatman: Arkham, for Batman and non-Batman fans alike.
Now they are broadening that established universe with the Suicide Squad and the Justice League. Allowing players to play as Deadshot, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Harley Quinn as they as tasked to enter a Brainiac-infested Metropolis to eliminate the brainwashed Justice League. We are thankful Warner Brothers are trusting Rocksteady to produce such an ambitious game and we can’t wait to see what they do with it when it comes out in 2023.
