Best Subclass for Barbarian in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, Berserker is the best subclass for the Barbarian due to gaining Frenzy and two additional skills, Frenzied Strike and Enraged Throw.

Enraged Throw is a bonus action that can do some serious damage and range and knock enemiesprone, solving two problems with a mere bonus action. Frenzied Strike provides an early way to use your bonus action for an additional attack that does some serious damage.Wildheartdoesn’t have the consistent damage and range theBerserkerhas, andWild Magicis unpredictable and inconsistent.

2 Wildheart
TheWildheart Barbarian subclassin Baldur’s Gate 3 is a powerful and versatilesubclassthat allowsBarbariansto harness the power of the wild.WildheartBarbarianscan channel the spirit of a bear, an eagle, or an elk to gain new abilities and playstyles.
TheWildheartBarbarianis great at lower levels where you lack the tools for mobility. Specifically, the Elk Heart charges 9 meters. This helps you enter the fight and stun targets in a massive area. The other strong ability is Tiger’s Bloodlust. This skill gives the bleedstatus effectup to 3 enemies. Targets that are bleeding take two damage slashing damage at the start of each turn and have a Disadvantage on constitution saves. At level 6, you can combine this with Animal Aspect of the Tiger, a double Strength Modifier on Attack Rolls againstBleeding or Poisonedtargets. This brutal combination can be combined with another animal aspect at level 10 Wolverine. This aspect procs theMaim status effecton bleeding targets, eliminating their movement, and they have a Disadvantage onDexterity Saving Throws. While not the bestsubclass, it’s a fun and enjoyable experience and highly recommended for players looking for a natural, wilderness type ofBarbarian.

1Berserker
TheBerserker Barbarian subclassin Baldur’s Gate 3 is the most effective and straightforward damage-dealingsubclass. Your Rage turns into Frenzy, which unlocks two additional abilities with incredible utility. Unlike othersubclasses, you have immunity toCharm and Frightened, lowering your chance of being crowd-controlled. And the best part of theBerserkeris each turn, and you takeadvantage of your bonus actionfor damage, not just utility or potions.
The best way to play theBerserker subclassin BG3 is head-on with maximum damage. You want to wearclothingwith set bonuses to your Rage (Frenzy) and a two-handed Greatsword. Once you unlock thesubclassat level 3, your Rage turns into Frenzy. On subsequent turns, you may use abonus actionfor Frenzied Strike or Enraged Throw. When in melee range, the go-to strike is the Frenzied Strike, which acts as another melee attack with abonus action. Enraged Throw is awesome when you need a stun or cannot reach the target. This will chuck an item from your inventory, which I use spears or daggers, hit hard, and possibly knock down the target.
Once you unlock theGreat Weapon Master featat either level 4 or 8, you can use yourbonus actionfor another attack if yourcritical hitor kills a target. Then you have some flexibility with your bonus action and a lot of utility, including using for potions. TheBerserkergives you the most consistent, up-front damage with theBarbarian, a class dedicated to damage. Using both Frenzied Strike and Enrage Throw causes Frenzied Strain. This adds a stack -1 penalty on Attack Rolls for every stack, which is removed when Frenzy ends. It’s still worth spending a bonus action on these attacks, but combining Frenzy extra utility with theGreat Weapon Masterproc is the best way to play theBarbarianeffectively in Baldur’s Gate 3.
