Christian Bale may have some of the most iconic roles in his name but he has also given up many roles in his career. As a respected and big actor, he has the privilege to pick and choose the movies he does. This allows him to go for roles he would prefer and movies he would enjoy doing. However, it also means that he can sometimes miss out on big roles.

One instance where he had to give up on a role and perhaps not regret it also happened to be an opening to join a big franchise. Bale is not one to connect himself with franchises too freely, so it would make sense as to why he rejected the role. Although, he was offered a role inSolo: A Star Wars Story.

Christian Bale Rejected Star Wars

Christian Balehad been offered a role inSolo: A Star Wars Story. While the movie did not do as well, it happened to be the back story for one of the most iconic characters of the franchise. Bale was offered a key role in the movie which he eventually revealed to be Tobias Beckett. Beckett was Han Solo’s mentor and the role was ultimately given to Woody Harrelson.

The movie unfortunately did not do as well as anyone would have hoped. There was a lot going on with the directors, the budget, and the movie performing underwhelmingly. While the movie was not as criticized, it did not perform as per expectations. Fans were even okay with the story to a certain level. However, it was an opportunity for Bale to enter the franchise and he opted out of it for personal reasons. Later on, he took the part of Gorr the God Butcher inThor: Love and Thunder. While neither movie did well at the box office, his character remained to be the spotlight.
