Coming to his latest project with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese inKillers of the Flower Moon, he has left no stone unturned here as well.
Not only has he enhanced his own performance by giving it everything he had, but he has also enabled co-star Robert De Niro to elevate his performance as well, even if it meant sacrificing his rear to do so. It was revealed by the cinematographer of the aforementioned film that during one scene, the actor was taking real hits to his butt by De Niro’s paddle.

While he may be known for giving some of the most amazing performances in cinema history, most don’t know the harshness ofLeonardo DiCaprio‘s tactics to extract those inspirations. From going the extra mile inThe Revenantby living in a cold and harsh climate to eating raw meat, the star has many other tales of pushing himself and throwing caution to the wind.
Likewise, he put his behind’s well-being on the line while he shot an excruciatingly painful spanking scene in his latest filmKillers of the Flower Moon.
In a recent conversation withInsider, Rodrigo Pietro, the cinematographer for the aforementioned film revealed that the spanking scene when his character Ernest Burkhart is being punished by his uncle William K. Hale, played byRobert De Nirowas happening for real and that the star was actually hitting theShutter Islandstar’s rear with a paddle.
This scene, while DiCaprio wore cushioned pads to ease the blows, was still inflicting some pain on him, and this went on for a couple of shots, which further brought the star a new batch of agony. He said:
“I do remember doing them quite a few times and thinking, ‘Oh, that must hurt,’ There was some padding on his butt.But you could tellDe Nirowas really hitting him. Leo is game for so much, he’ll do anything.”
Thus, when it comes to pushing past the limits and going beyond, we now know that DiCaprio is not a lightweight by any means.
