The anime has millions of fans worldwide. Western countries constitute a major part of the fandom.Death Notegave birth to two of the most iconic characters ever: L and Light. But it was the latter who killed the former in a battle of wits. Light Yagami also died later due to his greatest flaw.
Light Yagami’s Ego Killed Him
Light Yagami is, without a doubt, an iconic character whose intelligence quotient is abnormally high. When Ryuk’s desire for entertainment made Light come under the influence ofDeath Note, the anime fans got their ultimate face-off. The battle of wits between L and Light Yagami will always be the best that ever happened. Ultimately, after both sides gave their all, it was Light Yagami who came victorious after L was killed.

After L died, Light thought that no one would be able to stop him. Every person that he killed made his ego grow bigger and bigger. But little did he know that this would be the reason behind his demise. After L’s death, Nate River and Mello took over L’s case. Light managed to kill Mello, but Nate River caught him along with the police.
Light’s ego is the ultimate fatal flaw that made him lose his life even after coming so close to being a god.

After Light Yagami was caught red-handed, he tried to write Nate River’s name in theDeath Notein a desperate attempt. But he was shot multiple times by the cops around him. Seeing him in that state, Ryuk wrote Light’s name in the notebook. Ryuk’s main motive was entertainment. Even though Light entertained him with his wits, after some time, he became predictable. Watching Light wither in pain, Ryuk thought it was not worth his time to see him in prison.
