ummmm… one (LOTR) is a singular story … a great epic tale … one long adventure that has an ENDING… it’s not a chronicled series. the other (FATF) is a money chasing franchise. they are not the same

“You know what gets harder? The work off-screen. The thinking, the expanding… there’s a reason why Tolkien stopped writing after a while because it’s so hard to continue mythologies. Nobody thinks about it in that context, but it’s real.”

Vin Diesel adds that this exact reason was why J.R.R. Tolkien stopped writing theLord of the Ringsafter a while and explains that it becomes way too hard to continue“mythologies”and it is slightly losing its fan base from when the franchise was at its prime, producing multi-billion dollar movies. Later in the interview, the interviewer comments about theFast & Furiousfranchise,“It’s the Lord of the Rings of action movies”to which Diesel readily agrees and compliments the interviewer.
