Although the movie was of the comedy genre, there was one scene whereAdam Sandlermay have taken it too far. While shooting a game of dodgeball, an event transpired that made several parents stand up against the comedian. When Sandler genuinely started hitting the kids with a dodgeball, several parents issued a complaint. Sandler, however, had an answer at the ready as he revealed to Conan O’Brien inConan.
“I hit some kid pretty hard, and he gets upset and he starts crying, and then parents all come up to me. That’s the scene. I’m a big guy, went back to school, I’m supposed to plug all of these kids. … Didn’t they read the script?

He further continued,
“I think I told the guys to roll anyways, and I nailed a bunch of kids, something awful like that. But those kids grew up and guess who they are today? I don’t know.”

On the other hand, Adam Sandler feels awkward when his movies get a negative reaction. Talking about how he regularly casts his friends, Sandler suggested that things tend to get uncomfortable when they end up receiving flak for movies that fail.

“The bad reviews that I get on everything I do, that part pisses me off because I ask my f***ing friends to be in it. I’m promising them, ‘I think it’s good.’ And then I do screenings for an audience and it all works, and I’ll call them up after and say, ‘Hey, that one thing you said really did great.'”
After hitting kids with a dodgeball and earning $26.4 million at the box office,Billy Madisonreceived a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDB and a meager rating of 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 1995 movie is available to stream on Hulu in the U.S.
