According to journalist Andrew Marmo,Minecraftlooks to have been given a classification for Xbox Series X/S consoles. AlthoughMinecraftis currently available to play on the Xbox series consoles via backwards compatibility with the Xbox One version, an upgraded “enhanced” version of the game has been teased for a while.

There has been speculation about this next-gen version ofMinecraftsince the start of the generation three years ago. The classification comes from the ratings board in Germany, (the USK), suggesting that the announcement surrounding the Xbox series version is going to be imminent.

Last March developer Mojang accidentally included prototype ray tracing supporton a preview build available to Xbox insiders. Soon after the discovery, the code was removed with Mojang issuing a statement saying:

“This early prototype code has been removed from Preview and doesn’t signal near future plans to bring raytracing support to consoles.”

In other news, on Thursday the 17thof AugustMicrosoft announced that it will be closing its Xbox 360 storefront as of next year.At the moment, it is set to close on July 29th, 2024, which still gives gamers plenty of time to purchase any titles that will be lost when the closure happens. According toanalysis from VGCaround 220 digital-only titles will essentially no longer be available for purchase after the closure.
