Fortnite Battle Royale’snewest Chapter will introduce a lot of new features, including core gameplay changes, characters, and a revamped map. The latest trailer for the upcoming season just released, and it introduces players to an entirely new dynamic compared to what players were experiencing in Fortnite OG for the last month or so.

After the massive ‘Big Bang’event, players can expect some downtime before the new Chapter arrives. The season is calledUndergroundand brings some massive changes toFortnite Battle Royale’s core gameplay mechanics. From new weapons and mods to characters like Peter Griffin, here’s what you can expect in the new season.
Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 5 – Underground Will Significantly Change Gunplay and Mobility
The trailer opens up with a cinematic shift from whatFortnite OGwas focused on. Players can expect the game to look like its modern version again, with new points of interest, and a train that keeps moving. That’s right, this time around, a train will add to the game’s mobility, along with other vehicles. Considering how seemingly large the map looks, we won’t be surprised if the train halts at different stations throughout the map.
The trailer also mentions how players can capture the train while fighting against NPCs and other players. Does this mean that they can take control of the machine altogether? We’ll have to wait and find out.

What’s substantially changing is how weapons and movement work. Going forward, players can expect to customize their weapon mods such as scopes, laser sights, and more. There’s also a massive shield players can carry around while using a pistol to defend themselves.
The trailer also shows a major change in how movement works; players can now mantle and climb walls. Perhaps if we give Epic a little more time, we’ll soon see wall-running too.

Moreover, there’s a newly introduced item – the Grapple Blade. This thing lets you maneuver through different heights (focusing on vertical movement) and can probably also damage opponents. This is likely going to change theFortnite Battle Royalemeta for a while as we progress through the different seasons in Chapter 5.
The New Season Introduces Two Instantly Recognizable Characters, Along with Friendly Faces
A surprising pop-up by the legendary Solid Snake from theMetal Gear Solidgames is a pleasant welcome, showing us the possibility of boxes being used as hiding covers. This is followed by a buffed-up Peter Griffin fromFamily Guy,making his iconic entry intoFortnite Battle Royale.
These are clearly the new additions to the game’s Battle Pass characters. There are quite a few more, one of which stands out – a Jonesy variant. Jonesy has been the game’s poster child when it comes to story and narrative choices in many seasons across multiple Chapters. Sometimes, he’s trying to figure out what’s happening in the game. At another time, he’s helping another character save the world ofFortnite Battle Royale.

This time around, it seems that he’s assisting the other characters in the Battle Pass as they fight through hordes of unfamiliar minions who belong to some kind of an organization. Like the previous seasons, maybe this time we’ll have a boss fight to look forward to as well.
Epic has given us a quick introduction to the new characters in the Battle Pass:

The Outfits are Underground underdogs and The Society’s crème de la crooked. With the Big Bang Battle Pass purchase, you’ll auto-unlock troublemaker Hope, the hope of The Underground.
These are the outfits players can unlock by progressing through the Pass:
Furthermore, there’s a unique cosmetic this time around – Car Body. This lets you customize your Sports Car, along with unlockable Decals for the car’s exterior. Players can expect to have an enhanced experience with drivable cars throughout the map. This is the first timeFortnite Battle Royalewill feature cosmetics exclusive to vehicles in the game.
It really seems like this season will be one of the most revolutionaryFortniteseasons yet.
