When someone says “Johnny Depp,” there might only be a handful of people who do not immediately think about his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow inPirates of the Caribbean.The actor made space for himself in the hearts of the viewers as they all loved his goofy take on the pirate. To fans’ utter disappointment though, Johnny Depp won’t be seen as the lovable pirate ever again, following the defamation trial.
While there must be many incidents Johnny Depp reminisces about from his time over at the sets ofPirates of the Caribbean,there is one scene where he couldn’t help but cringe while remembering. Well, the scene in question is none other than the kiss he shared with Keira Knightley who played Elizabeth Swann in the movies. According to him, the age gap was just way too much.

An Awkward Kiss for Johnny Depp
In an interview with Evening Standard,Johnny Deppstated that while it always is quite embarrassing to kiss someone you’re not romantically involved with, it proved to be much more awkward withKeira Knightley. This was because the actress was two decades too young for his age. Knightley was 21 when the filming ofDead Man’s Chesttook place, while Depp was 42. Now that’s quite an age gap!
“The fact that Keria is twenty-something years younger than me made it infinitely more awkward. Still, she was a good sport about it and we did what we had to do.”
TheCharlie and the Chocolate Factoryactor added that what made the whole situation even more awkward was the fact that Knightley was only seventeen years old when he first met her. TheBegin Againactress, however, didn’t seem to mind the romantic moment she shared with Depp. In an interview with TMZ, she stated that she couldn’t ask for a better kissing scene.
“I couldn’t ask for a better kissing scene with Johnny Depp actually, I think my 14-year-old self was yelping with pleasure. It was fantastic! What more can a girl ask for? I’ve got Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom and I get to kiss both of them. It’s wonderful!”
She even picked Depp overOrlando Bloomwhen she was asked to choose the better kisser saying, “Johnny Depp certainly wasn’t bad.”It’s safe to say the two took contrary things away from the scene!

Will Johnny Depp Return as Jack Sparrow?

Depp’s return as Jack Sparrow seems highly unlikely as he has made this very clear. The actor isn’t quite pleased with the studios after they dropped him from the franchise, due to the defamation trial. On the other hand, it was then reported that Disney is interested in making amends with the actor. According to the report, Disney offered him a whopping $300 million to return as Jack Sparrow for a couple more movies.
However, Depp’s representative debunked all these rumors. In a statement to NBC News, the representative revealed that the report was made up and there was no truth to it, whatsoever. Looks like fans should let go of any hope they have of the actor returning. After all, Depp himself said he wouldn’t return to the franchise, neither for $300 million nor for a million alpacas.
