It was her relationship with Tupac Shakur that stung the most, not just for her but also for the fans. So much so that the rapper was ready to propose to the actress even if he was in jail. However, Pinkett Smith had other plans in her life.

Jada Smith Thought Tupac Shakur Needed a Rock
Jada Smithtalked about how difficult it had been for her to see Tupac Shakur in jail. She could see his struggles and with it, was herself in massive pain. While talking on theAll the Smokepodcast, the actress admitted that there was a reason she rejected his marriage proposal to her.
“So when he asked me to get married, I knew at that time that: he needed somebody to do time with him which I was going to do anyway – you don’t have to marry me to do time, I’m here – but he needed a rock.”
She talked about how it was a challenge for her to understand that it was not that he needed to marry her just to keep her by his side. That was something she was willing to do regardless. According to Smith, marriage was only something he asked for to ensure she would not leave him during such a lonely time. However, that was not something she had even considered.

Jada Smith Thought Tupac Shakur Would Divorce Her
Jada Smith, while talking on the podcast,All the Smoke,revealed that it was their friendship that kept them so close together. Although she admitted that there was never chemistry between her and Tupac Shakur, it was their bond that the rapper wanted to solidify via marriage.
“Because of our friendship and because of everything we have been through together, he just wanted to feel that solidified foundation, you know? Because I promise you, he would have married and divorced me as soon as his *ss left jail.”
The actress believed that the rapper would leave her the moment he got out of jail because he wanted to just ensure she did not leave him during his time in jail. She even considered him to be her soulmate, however, not in a romantic manner.
