Christian Bale has talked about his experience working with Heath Ledger during the filming ofThe Dark Knight. Bale reprised his role as the caped crusader for the second installment of theBatmantrilogy, which was written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Ledger played his iconic antagonist, the Joker.

Christian Bale Thought Caped Crusader was Not as Interesting as the Villain

Following Heath Ledger’s performance inThe Dark Knight, The Joker as a whole became a far more intriguing and sought-after character. Christian Bale admitted that while he was not much concerned aboutHeath Ledgerstealing the show, he finds the otherBatmanmovies somewhat problematic in the context that he’d never found the Caped Crusader to be as interesting as the villains.

“I asked myself, ‘Well how come it’s always been that he’s the most boring character?’ I’ve never found him to be intriguing at all. Whereas these graphic novels depicted him as by far the most fascinating of them.”
