Being Hollywood’s greatest martial artist, Jackie Chan rarely serves as a master to many. Rising to fame in the Chinese film industry to eventually venture into Hollywood, Chan delivered some of the greatest performances of all time. However, one of his students, and Bruce Willis’Die Hard 4co-star Maggie Q had a lot to say about the Chinese actor.
Recalling Jackie Chan’s finickiness about stunts and scenes, Maggie Q confessed to being fortunate enough to be trained by the master himself. However, she was quick to admit that Chan was extremely difficult to please and even served as a strict master.

Maggie Q Recalled Her Training Under Jackie Chan
Finding her passion for Shakespearean drama, theDie Hard 4actress Maggie Q recalled her initial years in the film industry. Discussing how she initially tried her skills in modeling to earn some money for her college, the actress confessed “when I was offered my first acting role, I didn’t want to do it”.
Maggie Q mentioned relocating to Tokyo at 17 years of age to try out modeling gigs. However, the actress was eventually offered her first role inHouse of the Dragon. Although according to Q, “when I started, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing”, her debut film turned out to be a massive success in Asia.
Soon venturing into the prominent film industry, the actress mentioned training for martial arts underJackie Chan. Discussing how she was initially trained by Chan’s core stunt team, Maggie Q mentioned finally getting the legend’s attention. However, the actress also confessed how difficult it was to please her prestigious teacher.

Maggie Q Claimed Jackie Chan Was Hard To Please
Recalling her training sessions under Jackie Chan, Maggie Q mentioned, “I would practice my sword work, and Jackie would come in during our training sessions and rehearsals and correct everything I was doing”. Speaking about the martial arts legend’s finickiness, the actress confessed how difficult it was to please him.
“This is going to sound severe, but it’s not. He’s sort of like that father you couldn’t really please because he’s not impressed with anyone.” Maggie Q shared.
Stating what it took to be praised by the legend himself, the actress mentioned, “I mean, you’d have to be at his level or better for him to be impressed by you.” She further added, “So he was really just encouraging us to get there, but there was really no like, ‘Oh, you’re doing a great job.’ So that created a really intense work ethic during that time”.
However, eventually, the hours of grueling training under Jackie Chan ultimately paid off, as Q landed her breakout role, alongside Tom Cruise inMission: Impossible III(2006).
