Kate Winslet Reflects on Meeting Leonardo DiCaprio For the First Time

As a re-mastered 4K Ultra HD version ofTitanichit the screen earlier this week,Kate Winsletshared her experience working withLeonardo DiCaprio. In a conversation withEntertainment Tonight,the 48-year-old actress shared that she and her co-star“clicked immediately”after meeting on the set of the 1997 film. She said,

“He was this kind of a mess of long, skinny, uncoordinated limbs, and he was just very free with himself, and he had this effervescent energy that was really magnetic.”

The Oscar-winning actress also shared that she had a feeling that she and theRevolutionary Roadactor would get along pretty well and would have fun making the film.“And we just really did. We just really did,”she recalled.

Winslet also recalled the “curious” nature of her co-star, noting his deep fascination with the period details related to the boat. The duo, who first met in 1996 while starring inJames Cameron’sfilm, have since developed a strong friendship and mutual respect for each other.

“And we’ll always just make that call right away. There’s no, like, ‘Hang on, I’ll call you tomorrow.’ It’s instant,”she said, as she shared that she is grateful to have such a friend in her life. Winslet said, “In the world that we live in now, to have friendships that bind you and that shared history, it’s really something.”
