How to Create Time-Lapse Video From Single Photo Using Galaxy AI

Samsung introduced the new Galaxy AI features for its Galaxy family phones earlier this year. The Galaxy AI is asuite of different AI featureslike Circle to Search,Write Assist, and others to make the best of your smartphone. Of course, the Gallery app also gets a bevy of tools to enhance your photos. One such option is where the Gallery app lets you create a 24-hour time-lapse video with a single photo. Of course, there are catches that some conditions need to be met to create time-lapses from a single photo.

What Is a Time-Lapse Video

A time-lapse video compresses hours or days of real-time video into seconds or minutes. Instead of recording for hours continuously, the camera equipment captures individual frames at set intervals, such as every minute or hour. When played back at standard video speed (24-30 frames per second), these frames create a fast-motion effect, showing processes like sunsets or bustling city scenes. Essential equipment includes a camera (with time-lapse functionality or an intervalometer), a stable tripod, and ample battery and storage to ensure uninterrupted capture over long durations. However, you can now record the same using your phone, and preferably a tripod.

Converting Single Photo into Time-Lapse Video

Time-lapse photos work best with rivers, clouds, sunsets, etc. Step outside and click a few photos of the sky to test. Samsung Gallery app will automatically detect if the photo has those elements. If such elements are detected in the image,Galaxy AIwill convert that single shot into a stunning 24-hour time-lapse within minutes.

Here are the steps:

While this time-lapse is entirely generated using Artificial Intelligence, it’s not as good as an actual time-lapse video. The 24 hour time-lapse option often struggles with photos with a sky, clouds, or other scenic backgrounds. However, we can only expect this feature to get better over time.

Samsung’s Camera app has a native option to shoot videos in time-lapse. However, somethird-party Android appsoffer more control and features.
