Lies of P Overture, much like the base game, features plenty of secrets that you’re bound to miss during your first playthrough. While the expansion is fairly linear, it does feature diverging paths, especially in the final few chapters. One such optional path leads to a rather special boss encounter. The optional encounter is against thePremetamorphic Green Hunter. It’s not technically a challenging boss fight. Instead, it serves as a boss that provides more context on certain events from the base game.
However, locating this optional boss can be tricky, especially since it’s well hidden within one of the most confusing chapters of Overture.

Where To Find the Optional Boss (Premetamorphic Green Hunter) in Lies of P Overture?
The Premetamorphic Green Hunter can be found inChapter 3of Lies of P Overture. However, before you can reach the boss, you need to progress quite a bit through the opening section of the chapter. After you reach theAncient Ruins Excavation Site,Stargazer, just progress naturally. You will eventually reach a cave with a ladder that leads to a locked gate. Unlocking the gate leads you back to the starting Stargazer. After unlocking the gate, simply make your way to the wooden elevator.
However, instead of going all the way to the bottom of the cave, you can hop out of it midway. As you descend via the elevator, you will find a small crevice that you can step into.
This crevice leads you to the optional boss. The encounter is also telegraphed by a loud roar, which is commented on byGemini. Once you head into the crevice, simply make your way through it to reach the Premetamorphic Green Hunter. This area only features a boss fight and no other enemies you need to worry about. Once you defeat the boss, you may exit the cave via theStargazer.
There isn’t any other loot in this part of the cave either. It should be noted that you can complete the optional boss encounter even after finishing the DLC.
How To Defeat the Premetamorphic Green Hunter
The Premetamorphic Green Hunter, much like theGreen Monster of the Swamp, is extremely weak toFire. It’s essentially an easier version of the Green Monster encounter from the base game, although the boss has more HP. The Premetamorphic Green Hunter has two primary attacks you need to be mindful of. The first is a decay surge, where it hits you with its tentacles, inflictingDecay. It’s a 4-hit combo and can be parried or dodged.
The other attack is an ambush, where it burrows into the ground and follows up with an unblockable combo. As always, parrying and charged attacks work well against this boss.
