“I read the script. The first time I read the script, I threw it across the floor. I didn’t even want it in my house. I thought it was so f–ked up on such a deep level, but that’s when I knew that’s what he was doing. You know, that’s the only way to say what he really needed to say.”

In the Variety segment, theGrown Upsactor described his experience of watching the movie as an intense cinematic journey and shared that if he“was going to work every day, shooting that movie”he doesn’t think he“could handle it.”
“I watched it—yeah, that is really interesting. How it kept going and going… It’s just hard to take your eyes off it; it was just… Your acting in that movie—I can’t believe what you did. I can’t believe what you had to do. Because, if I was going to work every day, shooting that movie, I don’t think I could handle it.”
Sandler was particularly impressed byJennifer Lawrence’sstriking performance, which resonated with him emotionally.
“I was telling you, I like—there’s a couple of days that you know are gonna be whopper days. I kind of gear up for those days. I got, alright, I gotta get to that; we’re shooting that Wednesday. I hope I can handle it. You, everyday, seemed like it was—not everyday—but you had some stuff going…”
