Despite the cutthroat competition that occupies more than half of Hollywood’s glamorous landscape, there’s always some or the other iconic duo hiding in the nooks and crannies of the industry that manages to rise above the minutiae of failure and success. Much like Sandra Bullock and George Clooney; theirs is a friendship that has stood the brutal test of time and continues to do so, albeit, there have been a few strange instances in the road for both, the likes of which involve drunken texts and stolen roles.

Sandra Bullock & George Clooney – Best Friends or Friendzoned?

George ClooneyandSandra Bullockgo decades back, way before either of them even set foot in show business, and the former has been the actress’ wingman ever since. Even after that, went their acquaintanceship burgeoned into an inimitable friendship, neither Clooney, 62, nor Bullock, 58, have ever crossed the boundaries defining their platonic equation. So, it’s not too surprising that the two have always kept their relationship ten feet away from the word ‘romance.’ But that’s not to say there was never any spark.

Back in 2013, theBatman & Robinstar toldE! Newsthat though Bullock was“beautiful”inside out, he’d never soil anything between them by making things lovey-dovey, especially since she’d been dating one of his best pals. And well, Clooney has always been big on living up to the“bro code.”For the most part, though, theMiss Congenialitystar seemed to share the same sentiment as well, but it looks like drunk Bullock might’ve looked at it all a bit differently.

Despite being crystal clear about not being attracted to herGravityco-star, the Oscar-nominated actress, as it turns out, couldn’t get enough of Clooney, especially in her inebriated state. The actor and filmmaker once admitted toETthat Bullock had a naughty habit of drunk dialing him every now and then at 3 in the morning.

“She may say that she’s not all that attracted to me, but she calls every night, three in the morning, drunk, ‘Hey, George, what are you doing?’ [It’s] non-stop. And then I just send her a bottle of tequila.”

In response to that,Bullock later jokedabout how things never took a more romantic turn between them because while she was busy“booty calling”Clooney, the latter was looking for“commitment and marriage”instead.

Revenge of the Fallen?

A couple of years after that incident, theOcean’s 8star would then go on to steal her buddy’s role in David Gordon Green’sOur Band Is Crisis, wherein she stars beside Billy Bob Thornton.

The role of Calamity that Bullock portrays in the adaptation of the 2005 documentary, was initially meant to be played by a man, one which Clooney was set to take over. But after a few changes here and there, the lady ended up bagging the job and the latter ended up staying on as a co-producer instead.

And it would’ve made up for quite a fitting tale of revenge on Bullock’s part since Clooney had friend-zoned her all those years back, but unfortunately enough for her, the film ended up tanking at the box office; the movie only managed to bring in $8.6 million against a relatively lofty production budget of $28 million.

As for Bullock and Clooney, the two remain great friends even today with families and significant others to spend their respective lives with. So, while there was no room for any intimacy to begin with, if there was a time when they could’ve explored such a thing, it’s long gone.
