Jared Leto evidently doesn’t limit his method acting to Oscar-winning roles, as he adopts an eccentric on-stage persona for his music career as well. Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, has some ardent fans who look up to theMr. Nobodyactor. However, one crazy fan crossed all limits when he/she sent a severed ear as a gift to the actor-cum-musician.
The more disturbing thing about the gift turned out to be Leto’s joke as he shared that he had poked a hole in the ear and worn it as a necklace. While many did not find this joke funny, theDallas Buyers Clubactor is not exactly known for his conventional sense of humor either.

Jared Leto’s Joke About The Most Disturbing Gift He Received
Jared Letoco-founded the band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, with his brother Shannon Leto in 1998. The band has released six albums and eighteen singles over the years, amassing a dedicated fan base. The fans of theRequiem for a Dreamactor’s band call themselves The Echelon. Leto deeply appreciates the love and unwavering support they offer during the band’s performances.
Leto opened up about the passion of the band’s fans during a 2013 radio interview with Phil Clifton for Radio X. While paying homage to the committed fans, theHouse of Gucciactor discussed the gifts they receive from fans during shows. Leto shared withRadio X:
“The fans are an incredibly committed and passionate group of people. Going to a show is kind of like visiting Japan, you expect gifts on your arrival. You get all kinds of wonderful things.”
Amid the many thoughtful gifts the band has received, Leto revealed that occasionally, they would receive some unusual gifts from more eccentric fans. One such gift sent toThe Little Thingsactor was a human ear, along with a message that simply read,“Are you listening?”. However, it was Leto who managed to momentarily creep out the host by sharing a dark joke about the gift. He shared that he poked a hole in the ear and wore it like a necklace. Leto told Clifton:
“Someone cut their ear off once and sent it to me, that was very strange. A whole ear. The Van Gogh move. The note just said, are you listening? I never knew who it was, who’s missing their ear out there. I poked a hole in it and wore it as a necklace!”
Following the joke, Leto requested his hardcore fans not to send such unsettling gifts. He particularly implored them not to send any parts or whole of their own bodies.

Jared Leto Has Also Been On The Sending Side Of Disturbing Gifts
Jared Leto not only received disturbing gifts but he also took it upon himself to send such gifts to his fellow cast members during one of his famous roles. Leto took on the role of DC villain The Joker inSuicide Squad, following the footsteps of legends likeJack NicholsonandHeath Ledger. TheAlexanderactor even admitted to sending unorthodox gifts as pranks.
Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn, reportedly received a live rat.Viola Davis, who played Amanda Waller, revealed that theMorbiusactor sent a dead pig through a henchman, dropping it in the middle of the rehearsal room. TheFight Clubactor initially admitted to having sent used cndoms and anl beads, but he later clarified that it was all a prank and no such items were used.
Given the eccentric nature of theChapter 27actor, it’s no wonder that he didn’t find the fan’s gift to be extremely disturbing. Thirty Seconds to Mars released their latest album in 2023, titledIt’s the End of the World but It’s a Beautiful Day, through Concord.
