The Oscar-winning Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey has featured in several blockbusters and critically acclaimed movies. One of the most iconic characters of his career includes the role of the homicide detective, Rust Cohle, from HBO’s anthology seriesTrue Detective. He was reportedly the first actor to be cast in the show and was later joined by Woody Harrelson, who portrayed Cohle’s partner, Detective Marty Hart.

Apart from his incredible work on the silver screen,Matthew McConaugheyhas also given critically acclaimed performances in Television, including in HBO’s anthology seriesTrue Detective.The actor has shared that he believed that show was“hard to screw up”and accepted the offer just after reading the first two episodes of the series.
While he was confident that the show would do wonders, there was another reason to accept the offer.“That was always how I saw it. One season, eight episodes, a finite beginning, middle, and end, goodbye, look forward to watching it,”he shared.

The Gentlemanstar stated that if he had been required to return in a second or third season, he wouldn’t have said yes toTrue Detective.However, once the 8-episode series was over and he was done playing Rust Cohle, the actor shared that he missed him.
He shared that he missed watchingTrue Detectiveon Sunday nights.“I was a happy man when we made that for six months. because I was on my own island,”he shared during an interview and even talked about the possibility of returning to the TV series.

Matthew McConaughey Wishes to Return to True Detective
