Many times, when the creation of a masterpiece achieves the desired level of precision, finesse, and success that the creator was looking for, they stop at just that one, but for artists like legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, one is not enough. Therefore, the majority of the projects he had undertaken in his career have been nothing less than blockbusters or award-winners.

And while creators have the utmost pride and confidence in their respective creations, there are times when situations make them regret creating them in the first place. An experience that the director shared with the public had the same effect on him where he regretted making one of his most iconic films, while on the other hand, that same film was so scary that an actress didn’t dare watch it.

Steven Spielberg Hated CreatingJawsBecause It Boosted The Killing Of Sharks

Whenever we think of films and cinematic franchises that became iconic pieces of history, chances are high that many of them are the creations ofSteven Spielberg. From popular fantasy films to action/adventure flicks and sci-fi masterpieces, the director has contributed to all these genres and then some. Also, with his 1975 adventure/thriller movie titledJaws,an icon of the early survival horror genre, Spielberg created a worldwide sensation. But later, he came to regret making the film since it led to the rise in shark killings.

In a past interview, theE.T.director was asked what it felt like to be surrounded by sharks on an island, to which he replied, recounting the worldwide effect that his film had on the shark population. After the release ofJaws, the hunting of sharks for game skyrocketed to the stratosphere, so much that it almost became a menace. Therefore, the director feels that his film had this effect, and he hated making it after that as these fishermen were mercilessly harming the entire population of these aquatic species, while he fears that these animals had a grudge against him. He said:

“I truly and to this day regret the decimation of the shark population because of the book and the film.I really, truly regret that. That’s one of the things I still fear, Not to get eaten by a shark, but that sharks are somehow mad at me for the feeding frenzy of crazy sports fishermen that happened after 1975.”

While he may be scared of sharks today due to the harm that he caused to their population, actressBlake Livelywas just plain terrified of his iconic film despite the fact that she herself starred in a similar movie in the past.

In an interview, when asked whether she was more afraid of these creatures before or after filming her project, she said that she was terrified before, but after swimming with them, she saw the beauty of these animals. She said:

“I was terrified of sharks. I never even watched Jaws because I was so scared of sharks.I went diving with great whites maybe five years ago and that was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. It was really eye opening. You see these creatures in their habitat, not hunting you”
