TheIron Manactor Don Cheadle has been a prominent part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the 2010Iron Mansequel. Over the years, he has stood beside his friend in every battle and even joined the battle against the supervillain Thanos inAvengers: Endgame. However, the latest Disney+ series’ revelation about his character has contradicted everything that took place after the events of the 2016 filmCaptain America: Civil War.

It has also led fans to question every single action of his character since the 2016 film. The revelation has ruined some of the best and most emotional moments of the character from his last appearance alongside the Avengers in the 2019 film.

Marvel’sSecret InvasionRuined Rhodey’s Emotional Moments
The latest Marvel seriesSecret Invasionrevealed that one of the shapeshifting aliens has been standing alongside the Avengers as Rhodey for the past few years. While it is unknown when the switch exactly took place, it is believed to have happened after the events of theCivil War,during which his spinal column left him paralyzed from the waist down.
It raises the question thatDon Cheadle’scharacter might not be aware of a big part of his life, even losing his closest friend Tony Stark duringAvengers: Endgame. Not justRobert Downey Jr., the character also shared some heartwarming moments withKaren Gillan’sNebula.

As they retrieve the Power stone from Vormir before Star-Lord, the duo shares a small conversation.“I wasn’t always like this,”Nebula tells the War Machine, to which he responds,“Me neither, but we work with what we got.”
Earlier, it was taken in context to the accident during the events of theCivil War,which resulted in him no longer being able to walk. However, the new revelation has left fans confused if those were Rhodey’s words or of Skrull, who had been living as him the whole time.

The Marvel Series Ruins Rhodey’s Final Moments With Tony Stark
Rhodey has been beside Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, since the very first movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The duo shared some touching moments in the 2019 film before Rhodey had to give a farewell to his long-time friend after the battle against Thanos.
When Robert Downey Jr.’ Iron Man returns to Earth, he gets into an argument with Steve Rogers, claiming that the Avengers failed. As the discussion gets intense, Rhodey grabs Tony. While it was taken as a friend reaching out to help, the Skrull version of James Rhodes has lowered the emotional value of the scene.

Another such moment includes the War Machine saying goodbye to his friend. The final moment between the duo is also believed to have been ruined, as he never really got to have that last moment with Stark. And Marvel’s this streak doesn’t end here. During Tony Stark’s funeral, James Rhodes is seen saying some comforting words to Happy Hogan.
Considering both have shared a special bond with Stark, it was believed to be a comforting moment between them. However, the twist introduced in the latest Disney+ series has lowered the impact of such emotional interactions between these characters and raised uncertainties about Don Cheadle’s upcoming Marvel seriesArmor Wars.
