With his on-screen persona as the star-spangled super soldier from the past brought to the present, Chris Evans’ role as Captain America has made his image similar to his character. Known for being one of the most fun and amazing stars to work with, claimed by both cast and crew, it’s only natural to always see him with a happy face.

But underneath all that amazing persona of his, the star also experiences hardships like every one of us, which sometimes can take a heavy toll on an individual. One time, he revealed that he did experience something like this, which was after he had settled into his superstar persona in Hollywood.
Playing Villain Took Its Toll On Chris Evans’ Mental Well-Being
Popularly known for his charismatic performance as Captain America in the MCU for almost a decade,Chris Evansis no stranger to the people’s love and admiration. Apart from his most iconic performance, the star is also famous for many films from different genres in the industry.
However what he’s not famous for is doing theatre, something that he put himself through in 2018 withLobby Hero. Although he did learn a lot about the art of theatre through it, he also experienced the hatred of the public through that experience.

In a past episode ofActors on Actors, theGhostedstar was having a conversation with his MCU co-starScarlett Johanssonabout their experiences in and beyond the film business. Here, the actress also asked him about what it felt like doing a recent Broadway show.
While the actor said that the experience was enriching, not all of it was as positive as he expected. He said that due to him playing the negative character in the show, he felt the hate and resentment of the audience. While he knew this came with the territory, it piled up on him to take its toll. He said:

“My impact on the audience was people identifying me as a person in their life that they despise, and if I am doing my job well, they hate me, which is fine. But I think to get up every day, find the motivation, and go to the theatre and do it, I think the next time I get on stage, selfishly, I’ll want just a few moments where I can find that sweet, sympathetic connection with the audience that isn’t just representing worst parts of their personal experience”
This experience, although it may have taught him things along the way, still was enough to bring someone down to their knees.
