DreamWorks’Puss in Boots: The Last Wishis performing well at the global box office as the holiday season saw a significant jump in numbers. The movie currently holds $129 million in revenue since its premiere on December 21st.

The sequel spin-off movie of the beloved cat fromShrek,Puss in Boots: The Last Wishopened in 18 theaters and is now available in 72 regions. On its second weekend, the international box office added $22.4 million, a 15 percent increase from the first week of its release.

At the domestic box office,Puss in Boots: The Last Wishplaces behind James Cameron’sAvatar: The Way of Water. It also witnessed an increase over the three-day weekend. Starring Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots, he reprised his role from 2004’sShrek 2. The sequel movie finally saw the character reach the last of his nine lives. To restore the lost lives, Puss in Boots sets out on an epic adventure.
The movie currently sits at 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it received generally favorable reviews and raves from critics. In a review fromCollider, the movie receives a score of A- and called it “the hero that DreamWorks Animation has needed all along.”

The movie also stars Salma Hayek as Kitty Softpaws, Harvey Guillen as Perro, John Mulaney as Jack Horner, Florence Pugh as Goldilocks, Olivia Colman as Mama Bear, Ray Winstone as Papa Bear, Samson Kayo as Baby Bear, Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Mama Luna, and Wagner Moura as the Big Bad Wolf.
