The fifth installment in theIndiana Jonesfranchise might not have lived up to everyone’s expectations, but it certainly did a terrific job of evoking rivulets of nostalgia in fans. After all, it brought back some of the oldest allies of the leather-jacket-clad daredevil archaeologist, the likes of which include John Rhys-Davies’ Sallah and Karen Allen’s Marion.

And given the fact thatIndy 5marked Harrison Ford’s last run as the beloved character, it makes the film all the more special. But it looks like not everyone is sold on the idea of Ford’s retirement from the action/adventure franchise, even Allen and the director himself.

Karen Allen Still Seems to be Holding Out Hope
Karen Allen first took over the role of Marion Ravenwood back in 1981 withRaiders of the Lost Arkdenoting her franchise debut, and well, ever since then, she’s become an obvious fan-favorite. And to return as one of Indy’s greatest loves after 15 years? It goes without saying that the latest and seemingly last Indiana Jones outing would’ve been an emotional roller coaster for Allen and her co-stars.
But unlikeHarrison Ford, who’s resolute on not donning his fedora and whip hereafter, the 71-year-old actress doesn’t seem to be as keen on saying a final goodbye to the franchise. What’s more, she even believes that the former could still somehow make a comeback in the foreseeable future, because well,“never say never.”

“It would be incredible to be able to explore who [Marion] is and who she’s become. I don’t know. They’re so interwoven with each other, I can’t imagine someone creating a film that revolved around Marion without Indy, but never say never. It could always happen!”
While this can easily be chalked up as wishful thinking, it simultaneously also feels like a big easter egg hidden in plain sight.

CouldIndy 6be on the Cards for Harrison Ford?
Just recently, filmmaker James Mangold very subtly left a hint the size of a moon’s crater regarding Ford’s possible reprisal of the iconic adventurer, when he toldEW,“No, I don’t think he’s done,”implying that Indy is, as a matter of fact, not going MIA anytime soon.
Even the ambiguous ending ofIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyseems to deliver more or less the same message, that Ford could pick up from where he left off virtually anytime he wants. Whether the 80-year-old actor would be willing to or not is a whole different ball game, but one can dream.

If his unshakeable resolve is anything to go by, it seems less than likely for Ford to come back for a potentialIndiana Jones 6, but then again, you can never really tell with these big-studio projects. As for whether there will be a sixth installment in the series, neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have divulged any sort of hint or indication toward the same. So, nothing can be said for sure.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyis currently playing in cinemas.
