As revealed onNaughty Dog’s official websiteand in the trailer (below), in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, you will take on the role of Jordan A. Mun. She is a bounty hunter with a dark, complicated past. While hunting down a target named Colin Graves, Jordan ends up stranded on Sempiria. It’s a planet that has been cut off from the rest of the universe for 600 years. Anyone who has tried to explore this planet has not come back making Jordan’s survival mission even more challenging.
In aninterview with the New York Times, we found out that the story appears to have strong religious themes. The game director Neil Druckmann revealed it by saying the game’s story is“what happens when you put your faith in different institutions.”The inhabitants of the planet follow an old prophecy, with texts warning that“the suffering of generations must be endured to achieve our divine end.”

While Naughty Dog is keeping most gameplay details under wraps, they’ve promised that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will offer their“deepest gameplay experience yet.” The reveal trailer gives us a glimpse of what’s to come:
Interestingly, some elements of Intergalactic appear to draw inspiration from Naughty Dog’s canceled Jak 4 project, particularly in its robot designs with neon red eyes, padded shoulder design, and sci-fi aesthetic. The game’s atmosphere will also be brought to life by an original score from composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The reveal trailer already shows their signature style for a distinct sci-fi vibe.

The game has been in development since 2020 and is confirmed for PlayStation 5. While no official release date has been announced, speculation points to a potential late 2026 or 2027 release window. A PC version is likely to follow too, about a year after the PS5 release, following Sony’s recent publishing strategy.
