The TV version of Jack Reacher was handed over to Hollywood star Alan Ritchson, and he is nailing it. However, he feels obliged to former Jack Reacher star Tom Cruise for setting the standards for the retired military veteran. The showrunners ofReacherare essentially keen on going with the plot from the books. An adaptation of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series, the first season is based on Killing Field whereas the second is inspired by Bad Luck and Trouble.

Therefore, it was surprising to note that Season 2 showcased Reacher’s adventures unraveling in New York City and Atlantic City rather than L.A. and Las Vegas, as in the books. Alan Ritchson felt Tom Cruise did not fit as Jack Reacher
Before the location reveal, it seemed like abiding by the book’s specifics was a big deal for the show. Earlier this week, Alan Ritchson made a guest appearance onJimmy Kimmel Liveand admitted that Tom Cruise’s version of Jack Reacher in 2012’sJack Reacherand its 2016 sequel was not ideal, yet the movies bagged in $300 million.
Ritchson claimed that Cruise’s casting was not according to the books, since it depicted a 6-feet character, with broad shoulders and long arms. Whereas, Cruise was simply 5’7 and normal-sized. However, with good intent, he revealed that Cruise’s version was still successful, and thus, Ritchson admired him for it.

Even though Ritchson agreed with Cruise’s criticism of not being aesthetically fit for the role, as per the books, he didn’t have much to say when the location of the series diverted from the text. Guess it’s all well and good when the onus turns towards oneself.
