Although she is one of the toughest stars in the entire entertainment industry,Scarlett Johanssoncouldn’t bear the criticism that was thrown at her for her 2013 masterpiece,Under the Skin,at the Venice Film Festival. Apparently, the audience didn’t like the plot of the sci-fi movie, thus booing the actress at the event despite her incredible performance.

Alberto Barbera, who has often found himself witnessing some of the finest events of film history and who was the artistic director of the festival for that year, shared how he rushed to theBlack Widowstar’s aid after her movie received surprisingly visceral reviews.
“It was one of the worst screenings I’ve attended; it was the only time the audience booed a film,” Alberto Barbera said. “Scarlett was almost in tears. I tried to say to her: ‘Don’t worry, in time the film will be recognized.’ And that’s exactly what happened. It’s now a cult movie.”

Regardless, though her exceptional gig wasn’t much appreciated at the film fest, her movie did get the true recognition it deserved following the results of the 21st-century poll of critics.
