This happened when Chan had to train for singing a song like the lateJames Brownfor a scene in the movie. While the actor didn’t find singing a song or dancing to one difficult, shooting forThe Tuxedomade him realize that he had to sing an English song word by word and then dance simultaneously. This, certainly, wasn’t an easy task. But Jackie Chan wasn’t one to give up.

Instead, he made sure to train hard for three months until he finally got the hang of singing and dancing at the same time. However, right when he got familiar with the process, the director of the movie decided to change it. Recalling the incident, Chan said,

“Dancing. Okay. I like dancing, but I have to sing and remember every lyric! Every day I’m getting tired. We work on it for three months! I practice! At the end of the month, the producer came and said, ‘Jackie don’t feel bad, but we don’t like that song.’ So I learn another song, and we get along fine, and I do it in [the] movie. It turned out pretty good.”

Jackie Chan’s Role InThe Tuxedo

Although the storyline ofThe Tuxedois rather absurd, Jackie Chan agreed to play it. He portrays the character of James Tong, who is a chauffeur of a secret government agent, and who later inherits his boss’s top-secret project after he dies.

Now, here’s the fun part: the top-secret project is actually a high-tech suit of armor that looks like a tuxedo that can manipulate the limbs of the person wearing it, making them a super-spy action hero. What’s funnier is that the tuxedo can also make its wearer dance, the reason why Chan had to practice for 3 months for singing and dancing simultaneously to a song.

Despite being slightly ridiculous, the movie had a fun side to it, judging by how Jackie Chan was the one playing the lead. And thanks to the same reason, the movie was widely loved by fans and became another name in the list of Jackie Chan’s superhit movies of all time.
