The actress used her years of experience to perfect her love scene with the Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan in the 2022 romantic dramaAmmonite. Directed by Francis Lee, the movie follows a speculative romantic relationship between Mary Anning and Charlotte Murchison.
During an interview with Fashion, Winslet shared that she asked the director of the movie to reschedule the filming of her and Ronan’s love scene to make it special for her co-star.

Kate Winslet’s Birthday Present For HerAmmoniteCo-Star
Kate WinsletandSaoirse Ronanare among some of the best actresses in Hollywood. As the two shared the screen in the 2020 romantic drama, theTitanicstar shared that she was surprised at how protective she felt of her co-star.
“One thing that I hadn’t anticipated feeling was quite so protective of Saoirse,” she toldFashionduring an interview. She claimed that she wanted theLittle Womenactress to feel safe in every condition, including while filming their love scene in the movie.
Winslet, who has had experience of filming such scenes, wanted her co-star to be“happy and relaxed.”In order to do that, she asked filmmaker Francis Lee to reschedule the filming of their love scene to Ronan’s 25th birthday, which was around the same time.
The scene was eventually filmed on the Ronan’s 25th birthday.“We filmed that scene on her 25th birthday,”Winslet shared before adding,“I thought, ‘Hey, it’s a memory,’ you know?”The Oscar winner said that she believed that it would be“a sense of fun and celebration”for the 29-year-old actress.

Saoirse Ronan Called it the Best Birthday Gift
Saoirse Ronan was not aware of everything Kate Winslet set up for their intimate scene. As her co-star intended, the actress felt safe and comfortable while filming the scene they choreographed themselves. Ronan also called it“the greatest birthday present [she] could have asked for”during an interview with FLARE, as per Fashion. She further added,
“I had a wonderful time, and I think because it was my birthday, it also gave us the excuse to drink on the job and have a couple of glasses of Prosecco before we got into it.”
She also shared that her co-star Winslet is“incredibly open and accessible.”TheLady Birdstar said that choreographing the scene themselves was a “fun” experience after they reassured the film director that they did not need an intimacy coach for their love scene.
