Ke Huy Quan did such an exceptional job inLokiseason 2 that fans couldn’t help but fall in love with him and his character, Ouroboros aka O.B. Yet, many would be unaware of the fact that this wasn’t the first time he played a tech expert/inventor in an English project: in the 1985 hit adventure comedyThe Goonies, he also played the fan-favorite character ‘Data’ when he was just 14.

However, it seems Huy Quan hasn’t left his character from 1985 back there, considering how he carried a Data Easter egg forward in an episode ofLokiseason 2 as well! And funnily enough, this Easter egg has created some hilarious implications for hisTheGooniesco-star, Josh Brolin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though Ke Huy Quan’sLokicharacter is quite adorable, the actor himself is pretty much like his on-screen character: lovable to the core. And his recent post onInstagramabout him hiding one ‘The Goonies‘ Easter egg in an episode of the Disney+ series further adds to his likeableness.

As it turns out, while playing the tech-savvy genius TVA worker O.B., Huy Quan wore a‘Data utility belt’for one scene in the series which pays homage to Data, the gadgeteer he played in the 1985 hit,The Goonies.
In the post, he wrote:
“The LOKI prop department crafted a Data utility belt for the TVA. I wore it for one scene as a fun Easter egg. Did anybody spot it? If you haven’t, you should go back and watch the entire season again.”

After closer observation, it was found thatKe Huy Quanindeed wore Data’s orange tool belt around his waist in the third episode ofLokiseason 2,‘1893’, while running around the Time Variance Authority in an attempt to figure out how to save the Temporal Loom.
While this was interesting in itself, fans made everything more fun by pointing out how Ouroboros could in fact be Data’s variant, commenting:

“Wait, does this mean Data was your original variant, and this makes The Goonies MCU canon?”
Not only this but they also called attention to how this would create some really hilarious implications for hisThe Gooniesco-star, Josh Brolin, saying:
“I was going to make a comment about Brolin now playing 3 characters in the MCU lol.”
As silly as it sounds, it is also true, considering howJosh Brolinhas indeed played 3 characters in the MCU: Thanos, Cable, and even Brand Walsh from the 1985 film,The Goonies!

Fans React To Ke Huy Quan’s Easter Egg Revelation
Since it had been almost four decades since Ke Huy Quan played Data inThe Gooniesback in 1985, he probably thought most fans would have forgotten about him by now. However, little did he know that after he brought this Easter egg to fans’ attention, it mostly came as a confirmation of most of their suspicions about the same!
Here’s what one commented underneath his post:
“I KNEW IT!! I was firmly convinced it was “semi-canon” that “Obie” was actually a Data variant that the TVA plucked from a timeline where all of Data’s little gadgets actually worked perfectly, but it meant he had to be taken out and his timeline pruned, but since he was so vital for the workings of the Loom, He Who Remains arranged to have his genius applied to the TVA’s needs. Love seeing something like this that “confirms” it! 😄”
Another fan mentioned how Huy Quan’sLokicharacter andThe Gooniescharacter’s energy somewhat matched.
‘Goonies say never die‘? Hell yeah!
