Actor Matthew Perry’s death brought the whole world to a standstill due to its unexpected nature. TheFRIENDSstar was found dead in his bathtub on October 28 and the cause for his death was recently determined to be the effects of the drug ketamine. The actor was undergoing ketamine therapy to treat his depression.

Perry had a long history of drug and alcohol addiction, the latter of which he claimed to have started developing at the age of sixteen. He reportedly began using prescription drugs and got addicted to Vicodin after a skiing incident during the late ‘90s. He has often claimed that he does not remember at least three seasons of his most popular show.

After a long battle with addiction and on his road to recovery, Matthew Perry was found dead in the bathtub of his LA home on the evening of October 28. While the cause of death was not determined then, it was recently revealed by the doctors who performed his autopsy that he passed away due to the effects of the drug ketamine.

The actor was reportedly undergoing ketamine infusion therapy to treat his depression. The autopsy report concluded that other factors caused the death of the17 Againstar such as coronary artery disease, drowning, and the effects of buprenorphine. The actor had undergone many treatments to help with his addiction disorder.

Matthew Perry Wrote About His Strange Experience With Ketamine

Though the effects of ketamine were reported as one of the cases of Matthew Perry’s death, the medical examiner also mentioned that the actor had received his last dosage a week ago and that the drug stayed only in the system for a few hours. Nevertheless, Perry had mentioned in his memoir that he did not like ketamine and that he often felt strange.

In his memoirFriends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Matthew Perry wrote that he was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy to ease his pain and depression. He also said that he often felt like he was dying when he was undergoing the treatment and that he would usually be phased out during the procedure. He wrote,

He also mentioned that his sessions, which were in a clinic in Switzerland would be in a room where he would be made to listen to music and then would be blindfolded while he was being injected with the drug through an IV. He also revealed that he had a near-death experience in the same clinic.
