The hype forMortal Kombat 1is reaching unprecedented levels, as the new launch trailer is definitely one of the most excitingMortal Kombattrailers ever. It shows the franchise at its best: super bloody and almost reaching NSFW levels of violence.

Fans excited as awesome Mortal Kombat 1 Launch Trailer releases.

But all of that is what fans have come to expect and adore about the franchise, and it seemsMortal Kombat 1is not shying away from it at all.

The trailer also places a huge emphasis on a new version of Shang Tsung, and his fatality may just join the ranks as one ofMortal Kombat‘s best depictions of over-the-top violence ever. Along with Shang Tsung, we also get our first gameplay look at Reiko, who was originally introduced all the way back in 1997’sMortal Kombat 4.

Mortal Kombat 1 Launch Trailer Shows Mortal Kombat At Its Best

The trailer focuses a lot on the main story of the game, as Fire God Liu Kang narrates, explaining how the martial arts tournament between Earthrealmers and Outworld is about to begin. After the events ofMortal Kombat 11‘s DLC, a new universe was created by Liu Kang, which gives all the characters a fresh start and new origins to boot.

Sprinkled in between are epic moments of gameplay. Combos, fatalities, and everything else you’ve come to love about the franchise are all here. The trailer also showcases some new modes, hinting at “new ways to play.” These seem like minigames, but we’ll only know for certain how important they are when the game releases.

The trailer also once again doubles down on Shang Tsung being a pre-order bonus, as he usually is with other entries in the series. Though he will probably be available for purchase separately a while after the game drops. Pre-ordering the Premium Edition will also get you Kombat Pack 1, which includes Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man.

Shang Tsung and Reiko’s Breathtaking Gameplay and Gruesome Fatalities

TheMortal Kombat 1launch trailer has left fans of the aforementioned characters speechless with the amount of creativity shown in their moves and fatalities. Shang Tsung’s shapeshifting magic is on full display, as you can see him morph into his opponents and copy their moves.

His fatality has been dubbed the “Alien” fatality by fans, and it definitely earns that title. We see the sorcerer forcing his opponent onto a table, where he proceeds to open a huge gap in their chest and pour some elixir into said gap. What follows is a demonic creature appearing from the hole and literally taking a huge bite into the opposition.

Reiko also has his moment to shine in the trailer as General Shao’s second-in-command. His grotesque fatality shows him throwing a spear into his opponent’s chest, ripping it in half, and then grinding it through the skull. It may be bloody, but as the tagline ofMortal Kombat 1says, “it’s in our blood.”

Mortal Kombat 1releases on September 19 for next-gen platforms. For those that have pre-ordered the Premium Edition, you can access the game from September 14 onward. It’s a great time to be aMortal Kombatfan, and I, for one, cannot wait to see where the franchise goes from here.
