Dwayne Johnson featured in his first and probably the last DC film as the anti-hero in the 2022 filmBlack Adam. The actor, who was involved with the project for years, finally took the screen as Black Adam in October 2022. However, things did not go as planned for his DC debut, and the film wrapped up only with $393 million at the box office. All of The Rock’s attempts to make the film a success failed.

And things got worse for his DC character after James Gunn took over as the co-CEO of DC Studios with Peter Safran. TheBlack Adamand theMan of Steelstar had to say their goodbyes as co-CEOs decided to reboot the cinematic universe. And theBlack Adamstar recently opened up about the whole situation at the 2023 Oscars.

Dwayne Johnsonjoined the 95th Academy Awards in a ballet pink tuxedo and with a new bearded look. TheRed Noticestar attended the ceremony to present the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature with hisJungle Cruiseco-star Emily Blunt.

And Johnson seemed to be taking a hit at the co-CEO of DC Studios when he was asked about Henry Cavill’s departure as Superman. He shared that he and the whole cast and crew of the 2022 film did their best to“deliver the best movie [they] could.”

When asked about Henry Cavill’s sudden departure from DC, he compared the situation to a “pro football team.” The Jumanji star said that no matter how good a team is, it has to go through some drastic changes when a new owner takes over.

“It’s almost like when you have a pro football team, and your quarterback wins championships and the head coach wins championships. And you have a new owner, and the new owner comes in and says not my coach, not my quarterback, I’m gonna go with somebody new.”

After years of waiting, theMan of Steelstar finally made his comeback in the 2022 film on the massive demand of fans. However, the return ended up being a nine-day wonder as James Gunn announced that he would not be continuing with Henry Cavill’s Superman under the new DCU.

Black Adammight have failed to impress critics, but fans seemed favorable towards the film. Its audience score is still much higher than its critical score. The film debuted at the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% audience score and currently holds a 88% audience score. However, the film’s critic score has dropped to 39% from its initial critic score.

The film had also become a target of DC fans for ruining the possibilities of theJustice Leaguestar’s return. During his appearance at the 2023 Oscars, Dwayne Johnson reflected on how he tried to put in only the best in his DC debut.

He also talked about how the film was loved by its audience but failed to win over the critics.“The audience score was in the 90s. Critics took a couple of shots. That’s just the business of it, though,”theFast and Furiousstar said.

Soon after the release of the film, he also expressed his gratitude to his fans and the audience on Twitter. He shared that he was glad that he was able to give the best to the audience, and that is the only thing that matters the most to him.
