Gabriel Macht has done many roles in his life, but none have ever been as impactful and renowned as that of Harvey Specter inSuits. The level in which that character became iconic with the skyrocketing success of the series was truly a spectacle for everyone. However, it would seem particular to learn that Macht did not have the same thought.

Despite the soaring success that his character brought to the world of entertainment, Macht did not see eye to eye with Harvey Specter. Out of all the roles he has done in his career, it was the lawyer that the actor hated with a passion. That was because he could not understand why anyone even liked Harvey Specter to begin with.

Gabriel Macht Found Harvey Specter to be Insecure
In an interview with theSydney Morning Herald,Gabriel Machttalked about how he found Harvey Specter to be an absolutely unlikeable character. Despite being this well-put rich, exceptional lawyer, Macht found him to be extensively insecure.
“There was a guy in New York who was like ‘I adore you, you’re my everything,'”he added.“And I was like, ‘Really? You adore the totally insecure guy who’s got to put people in place in a really aggressive, angry way?'”

When approached on the street with appreciation, he was immediately dumbfounded as to why that was the case. This began with the very pilot of the season because Macht just could not understand why Harvey would go above and beyond to hire Mike, someone who had never even been to law school.

Gabriel Macht Appreciated a Look into Harvey’s Shell
It is made clear from early on that Harvey is not a perfect man. Although he appears to be so, he is filled with flaws that make him human and not a law machine. His progress had been one many came to appreciate, seeing that Harvey Specter was a better lawyer than Keanu Reeves inThe Devil’s Advocate. While speaking to theObserver, he explained how this change came to impact Macht.
“When you work on a movie, you know the whole thing – where the character is going, how he’s going to change – from beginning to end. But with this, the character obviously changes more slowly. That was the big adjustment for me doing this.”

Gabriel Macht began opening up to the show and his character after he started experiencing character development. This mainly began with his understanding of how things can be different in movies and tv shows. The slower, more gradual development was new to him. However it was something he welcomed.
