Marvel’s Phase 5 of the MCU is underway in earnest and the first television series in this chapter will beSecret Invasionwhich will run for 6 episodes. Based on an event in Marvel comics, the series will follow the director of S.H.I.E.L.D Nick Fury who attempts to make sense of an alien invasion by extraterrestrial shapeshifters known as The Skrulls who have been infiltrating earth for years without humanity knowing of their existence.

Secret Invasionwill see Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury in what is considered to be a very different character arc for him. Other Marvel regulars like Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes will feature alongside Jackson. Apart from the high expectations from the series, the colossal pay check that Samuel L. Jackson has reportedly received in comparison to his co-stars is making heads turn.

It is no surprise then that the actor who is also a Hollywood veteran with an impressive track record of successful films, is worthy of a big pay check for his performance. Not only did Jackson receive a lofty sum, his total salary was worth twice more than 4 of his co-stars put together.

According to reports, Samuel L. Jackson received a whopping $20 million for his role inSecret InvasionwhileCobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Ben Mendelssohn who plays Talos, and Don Cheadle reportedly took home $4 million, $2.5 million, $1.5 million, and $2 million respectively. Their combined salaries which amount to $10 million is therefore half of Samuel L. Jackson’s total earnings for the show.

Based in the present-day MCU, the show follows the S.H.I.E.L.D director as he learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls. The MCU star spoke about the significance and importance of releasing the series at this particular time and how it connects the many different narratives and characters of the MCU especially with regard to the Captain Marvel arc.
