There was also a word that he was tapped to playGreen Lanternfor DC Extended Universe. This speculation soon died as neither the actor norWarner Bros.addressed the rumor. Furthermore, he shared his two cents on people’s obsession with CGI-driven movies:

“You know, there’s so many effects-driven movies. What people have a tendency to forget, because you look at a lot of the trailers and the summer movies that came out… they all look very similar. It’s like now everybody does everything. It’s all kind of the same sh*t. They’re recycling a lot of the stuff.”

“I like them enough, I’m not one of those purists who is like ‘Oh this is not cinema.’ I think the audiences decide and obviously, they [superhero movies] have been wildly successful. It’s just that for me, personally, as an actor, I would have a really hard time walking out of my trailer with a cape on, and a spandex suit.”

The actor, however, noted that his preferred roles are those that are realistic and would not make him feel “silly.” Discussing his work onThe Six Billion-Dollar Man, he shared how it was “grounded in reality” and “much more believable” for him as an actor to play the part.

Mark Wahlberg Wants To Be The Bad Guy In Upcoming Projects

Aside from true-to-life roles, he also expressed interest in playing a villain, a part he does not get to do more often. Speaking withET Canada, Wahlberg confessed:

“I’m always trying to mix it up and do something different. But I do love and embrace playing villain characters. I haven’t gotten to do that too many times.”

Since most of his roles in Hollywood films portray the good guy destined to defeat otherworldly creatures or simply to kick the butts of evil men wanting to hurt his loved ones, Mark Wahlberg wants to shake things up and add more variety to the numerous projects under his belt.
