One Pieceis an animated masterpiece that talks about reality, friendship, and worldbuilding, and being one of the greatest anime of all time, it leaves everyone breathless. Recently, the anime also had the premiere of its live-action, and the responses were very good, worldwide. Apart from the show costing a tonne, it had a lot of potential, and many are also expecting a second season.
However, information was recently released that the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’sOne Piecehad received help from another pirate show,Black Sails.The show was executive produced by Michael Bay of theTransformersfranchise fame, and it was reported that the live-action used the same ships that were used in the 2014 show.

One PieceLive-Action Have Re-UsedBlack Sails’Ships
The live-action adaptation ofOne Piecehas reused some of the ships that were originally built forBlack Sails. According to a representative of the live-action, utilizing the ships fromBlack Sailsagain was an economical method to make pirate ships look more authentic. Moreover, the ships were also in good shape and had previously undergone weathering for a long time to seem to have been at sea for a considerable amount of time.
Fans’ reactions to the repurposing ofBlack Sailsships have been divided. While some fans are pleased that the production team was able to cut costs on the ships, others are miffed that they are notOne Piece-specific. Given the high expense of each episode, it was somewhat expected that the program would find some other places to decrease costs. But till now the show has not let its fans down and the recycled ships have not impacted the overall caliber of the program.

The cinematographer from the live-action, Nicole Hirsch Whitaker revealed this info while attending a YouTube interview withTekking101,and claimed that the ships actually made forBlack Sails.While it is true that the show performed a cost-cutting for the ships, it is also true that most of its locations were made from scratch including the hometown of the main protagonist, Monkey D Luffy’s Windmill Village.
“The unusual thing about this production was these were ships that had been built for another show — that was a very different show — called Black Sails. And the production designer repurposed these ships and basically one of the reasons we went to South Africa to film was because of that.”
This statement was given by Nicole Hirsch Whitaker during a YouTube video withTekking101.
It is obvious that the production crew is dedicated to producing an accurate adaptation of the manga series and that they are prepared to make compromises to do so. Shifting to South Africa to film the show was definitely not easy for the entire team and even though Eiichiro Oda did not like the move, it had to be done. The live-action is available for streaming on Netflix only and it is a must-watch forOne Piecefans.
The Success of Season 1 is Spectacular
The debutant has certainly made its mark on social media as after its hugely successful release, the show ranked first in 84 countries, ahead ofStranger Thingsseason 4.One Piecelive-action dominated the streamer’s TV list and outperformed other shows with a massive 18.5 million views in its first week, and over 100 million within the first four weeks of its availability.
