New games get added to Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service every month, and Naughty Dog’sThe Last of Us Part 2may be next in line. Sony recently updated the promotional banner on the PlayStation Store’s subscription page, giving away this potential future addition.

A promotional banner indicates <!-- raw HTML omitted -->The Last of Us Part 2<!-- raw HTML omitted --> will be added to the PS Plus game catalog.

At the time of writing, the PS Plus banner doesn’t seem to be live anymore. It has likely been taken down again in the meantime. But its appearance, however short, does imply thatThe Last of Us Part 2may be coming to the subscription service sooner rather than later.

Now, where doesThe Last of Us Part 2fit in? The sequel to Naughty Dog’s highly acclaimedThe Last of Ushasn’t been available on Sony’s subscription service so far. They can also play a trial ofThe Last of Us Part 1, which was released in September 2022, and try the first two hours of the most recent remaster of the original 2013 title. However, the sequel has not appeared on PS Plus yet, which may change soon.

More of The Last of Us

Even though the first game was released a decade ago, Naughty Dog’s hit series has recently seen a lot of hype. After already getting a remastered PS4 version in 2014, the studio remade the original game from the ground up last year to releaseThe Last of Us Part 1for modern consoles.

It released the remake just in time for the premiere of the highly anticipated HBO TV show based on Naughty Dog’s first game. The show, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, took the world by storm and reached commercial and critical success, with a second season already confirmed.

The heart-wrenching story of Joel and Ellie has won countless new fans with this recent hype train. To keep this trend going, Naughty Dog may even be working on a remastered version ofThe Last of Part 2, as a recent leak revealed.

Sony has been bolstering its PS Plus catalog with prestigious AAA titles, including games such as theHorizonseries,God of War(2018),Ghost of Tsushima, and more. AsThe Last of Usis a PlayStation first-party title, it is very likely that it will be added to the subscription service at some stage as well.

A similar promotion was used earlier this year forRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The title was added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalog shortly after the banner appeared. While it hasn’t been confirmed officially yet, it seems that Sony could be going a similar route forThe Last of Us Part 2. It might get added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium game catalog very soon.
