Brad Pitt is a wonderful actor and so is Harrison Ford. While both of them have made quite a name for themselves, their career paths crossed when they starred in their $140 million movie directed by Alan Pakula. Despite the film being a commercial success, Pitt does not hold it in high regard while Ford considers the film one of his best and most underrated.

Alan Paula’sThe Devil’s Ownis an IRA thriller that unfortunately met a lot of negative criticism from Pitt as well as the critics, despite getting a good audience rating.

It s normal for actors to not be fond of their movies. Most don’t even watch their movies for the same reason. So,Brad Pittis no different and isn’t afraid to call the crew or even his fellow actors out.The Devil’s Ownfeatures Pitt as Rory Devaney, an Irish Republican Army member aka a terrorist who somehow ends up in the house ofHarrison Ford‘s character Tom O’Meara, who is a New York City cop.

The film revolves around when O’Meara discovers that Rory is involved in the illegal trade of arms and the film explores how they address the issues in light of their growing relationship. Despite the film receiving mediocre reviews and a good box office return, Pitt hated the film and the production process. TheBullet Trainstar stated in an interview,
“We had no script. Well, we had a great script but it got tossed for various reasons. To have to make something up as you go along—Jesus, what pressure! It was ridiculous. It was the most irresponsible bit of filmmaking—if you can even call it that—that I’ve ever seen.”

Brad Pitt Desperately Wanted To LeaveThe Devil’s Own
Harrison Ford in an interview revealed that the original script was developed by Pitt. However, as Pitt stated the script underwent several changes until they had nothing to work with but rather make it as they went along. Despite Ford defending the movie multiple times, Pitt wanted to leave it but was unable to due to the huge penalty he would have had to pay.
“I tried to when there was a week before shooting and we had 20 pages of dogsh*t. And this script that I had loved was gone. I guess people just had different visions and you may’t argue with that. But then I wanted out and the studio head said, ‘All right, we’ll let you out. But it’ll be $63 million for starters.’ They sell movies to foreign territories on box-office names and they can sue on what they could have made if you’d stayed in the movie.”

Despite the movie getting negatively impacted by Brad Pitt’s comments, he refused to take them back. However, he later said to have written that his negative comments were about the filming process and not the actual finished product.
The Devil’s Owncan be streamed on Netflix.
