Park Chan-wook’sThe Sympathizerhas featured some of the biggest names, as Jeniffer Vendiiti, the casting director of the series has opened to the possibility of a global cast. In the lead role viewers will see Hoa Xuande, and other actors apart from Robert Downey Jr. are Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Alan Trong, Duy Nguyễn, and Vy Le.
Since the TV Series is going to be based on the novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen, the plot would be similar to the source material as well. The plot would be narrated from the perspective of a half-Vietnamese, half-French communist spy, who acts as if he were a North Vietnamese mole. However, he is also conflicted due to his esprit de corps with the South Vietnamese military.
His nickname, The Captain escaped to America following the fall of Saigon, leading to a brutal massacre that led to the death of many of his loved ones. A major chunk of the story revolves around the dual nature of The Captain, which seemingly increases as he shifts to the USA.
