However, the director has failed to repeat the same success with the sequel as it has been heavily criticised for being a joke which seriously affected the serious dynamics that the film tried to showcase through its villain. Hence, it is now being reported that Taika Waititi will be replaced by Gareth Edwards so that the franchise can have a darker tone which Waititi has failed to do.

Why is Gareth Edwards The Right Man to DirectThor 5?

As a result, Marvel believes that Gareth Edwards is the right man for the job, as he has done more serious work than Taika Waititi, who would make the film entertaining with his light, humor-infused style.
Moreover, Gareth Edwards is believed to be the right candidate for this job, as hisRogue One: A Star Wars Storywas gripping and had the tone that Marvel Studios is trying to showcase in the franchise. Moreover, Edwards has more experience with writing and visual effects in these genres which might give him the advantage in bringing a more serious and thematically appropriate look and feel to aThorsequel.
