George R.R. Martin’sHouse of the Dragonhas had fans hooked. Ever since season one of theGame of Thronesprequel premiered, critics and fans have been praising it for apparently building upon its sequel’s mistakes, righting all the wrongs.

And now as Season 2 is ready to be released, the creator of the fantasy universe himself gave a sneak peek about the show. Writing in his official blog post, Martin revealed how the first two episodes were extremely ‘dark’ and that one of his friends even ended up crying watching them.

The 75-year-old creator ofGame of Thronesauthor has been going around London, his first visit after quite some while. And so, obviously, he ended up visiting the sets ofHouse of the Dragonand has been awe-struck ever since.

As is the norm,George R.R. Martinretold the trip’s details in his official blog postNot A Blog. In the blog post titledA Visit to Old Blighty, Martin revealed he also spent two days locked with Ryan Condal, theHOTDshowrunner.

“I also spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal… The highlight of the trip, though, had to be the sneak preview that Ryan gave me of the first two episodes of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, season two.”

Talking about his reaction, the writer added,

“I am hardly objective when talking about anything based on my own work… but I have to say, I thought both episodes were just great. (And they are not even finished yet). Dark, mind you. Very dark. They may make you cry.. (I did not cry myself, but one of my friends did). Powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching, heart-rending.”

What Do We Know AboutHouse of the Dragon S2

Thanks to the immense popularity of the show, it was quickly renewed for the next season. Thanks to the actors from the British Actors Union, the show wasn’t affected by the SAG-AFTRA strikes, and the show’s first trailer was already released on 2 December.

Season 2 will have actors likeEmma D’Arcy,Matt Smith, and Matthew Needham reprise their roles, while some likeMilly Alcockwon’t be back in season 2. Furthermore, the show would have only eight episodes instead of 10 as was previously planned.

As for the plot, unlike season 1, the show won’t have so many jumps but will continue after the Targaryen Civil War. Furthermore, there are rumors that the show already has seasons 3 and 4 planned after Smith let it slip during his appearance on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast.

House of the Dragon S2is expected to premiere in the summer of 2024.
