The film is set to bring back Michael Keaton’s Batman along with an appearance of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. Adding to the hype, the co-CEO of the DC Studios has also deemed it one of the best superhero films. And a new report from The Canadian has now revealed the upcoming film to be one of the most expensive DC films ever.

The FlashBecomes the Sixth Highest Budget DC Film
A new report from The Canadian has revealed the project for the upcomingEzra Millerstarrer,The Flash.An interview with the production designer of the film, Paul Austerberry, mentions that the total budget of the film is roughly $220 million. The Oscar Winner also revealed thatThe Flashis a“big deal for Warner Bros.”
The budget has made it one of the most expensive films under DC’s banner. WhileJustice Leagueis still the most expensive film of the studio with a budget of $300 million, the upcoming film is now the sixth most expensive DC film, behind 2013’s Henry Cavill filmMan of Steel.

However, despite being considered one of the best superhero films, its budget is still $40 million lower than the 2022Dwayne JohnsonstarrerBlack Adam.The budget for the film was initially approved to be $190 million, which was later raised to $260 million.
It was raised after theBlack Adam‘s test screenings, which performed poorly among the audience. This led to a 20 days reshoot, adding $70 million more to its cost. However, it still did not work out for the film, and it grossed only $391 million at the box office.

James Gunn on Ezra Miller’s Future in DCU
Earlier this year, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran said thatThe Flashactor, Ezra Miller is committed to their recovery, and the studio is not planning to discuss anything about their future in the DCU until they get better.
When James Gunn was asked the same during a recent interview, he also gave a similar response. Gunn said that the studio will wait and see how things fold out in the future. He said,“We’re just going to have to wait and see. We’ll see how things go, so, you know.”

The film’s director Andy Muschietti has also said that everyone is looking forward to“how this movie does.”The statement seemingly suggests that the studio could opt for theJustice Leagueactor to continue his journey in the DCU as long as the film performs well at the box office.
The Flashis set to release on August 19, 2025.
