In a 2016 interview with Esquire, Clint Eastwood and his son, Scott, candidly shared their experiences in the entertainment industry and discussed their personal beliefs and ideals. The conversation naturally touched upon the social and political climate at that time, leading Clint Eastwood to express his thoughts on Donald Trump and people’s heightened sensitivity towards certain topics.

In discussing the state of affairs, Eastwood referred to what he termed the “p**** generation” and observed that there are individuals who enforce limits on what can be said or done. He attributed this phenomenon to the changing times and the prevailing cultural attitudes.
“But he’s [Trump] onto something, because secretly everybody’s getting tired of political correctness, kissing up,” Eastwood said. “That’s the kiss-ass generation we’re in right now. We’re really in a p**** generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff.”
Furthermore, Eastwood conveyed his perception of the younger generation, remarking that there seems to be a lack of willingness to engage in hard work.

“When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist. And then when I did Gran Torino, even my associate said, ‘This is a really good script, but it’s politically incorrect.’ And I said, ‘Good. Let me read it tonight.’ The next morning, I came in and I threw it on his desk and I said, ‘We’re starting this immediately.’ All these people that say, ‘Oh, you can’t do that, and you can’t do this, and you can’t say that.’ I guess it’s just the times.”
